In its heyday the monastery’s possession included almost 300 villages and cities between the cities of Wuerzburg and Kelheim, Noerdlingen/Ries and Hirschau in the Upper Palatinate. That property was managed by six provostal administrations.
When the monks finally latinised the dialectical names from "Haholdesbrunn” and "Halsbrunn” into "fons salutis”, the monastery had become a "source of welfare” not only for the surrounding area, but for whole Franconia for a long time. Spiritual and religious trends, impetus for sacred music and the Cistercians’ intensive agricultural system have to be mentioned at this point at least.  |

In the 18th century Heilsbronn for a few decades became a popular spa and health resort. That was the result of a misinterpretation: the place’s name Heilsbronn means "medicinal spring”. People at that time erroneously believed that the water of the sources around Heilsbronn were spas.
From 1791 to 1806 Heilsbronn and the whole margraviate of Ansbach belonged to the Kingdom of Prussia. In the year 1806 finally it passed into possession of the Kingdom of Bavaria and later into possession of the Free State of Bavaria. |
